This was an interesting project involving the replacement and relocation of an
unusually heavy
TV broadcast antenna
for KCPQ-TV in Tacoma, WA.

DAVIDSON ENGINEERING can provide timely service wherever the need arises.

DAVIDSON ENGINEERING uses state-of-the-art software for the structural analysis of guyed and self-supporting towers and monopoles.   This linear-elastic, non-linear, and P-Delta analysis software permits a relatively fast analysis of most structures common to the broadcast and telecommunications industries.

Special software also permits uncommon analyses of self-supporting tower and monopole structures that may be sensitive to wind-induced vibration.

Other special purpose software is utilized for the analysis of guyed towers that may be linked by an array of cables.

Of course,  so-called  'hand-calculations' are performed as needed to derive or verify output of certain aspects of the project design.

DAVIDSON ENGINEERING is constantly upgrading its software library to keep pace with new innovations in guyed and self-supporting tower and monopole analysis.

DAVIDSON ENGINEERING specializes in the structural design and review of new and existing communication structures.    The project photos shown below and at left involved the replacement and relocation of an integrated antenna/tower unit that weighed about eight-tons.

The RCA TBJ-12A Channel 13 TV antenna/tower unit was hoisted down and laterally from the top of the existing 640 foot tall guyed tower to the top of a new 75 foot tall standby self-supporting tower.    The project included the design of a new gin pole for the contractor.     Its replacement was a new Andrew TRASAR slotted antenna shown in the photo on the first page of this web site.

The contractor was P&R Tower Company out of Sacramento, CA.    Three men were waiting in position to guide the heavy 64 foot tall antenna/tower section through the six-guy-wire set at the 145 foot elevation.

Your project needs may not be as demanding as this, but
DAVIDSON ENGINEERING gives the same care and attention to detail on each and every project.
